Monthly Letter

My dear baby boy,

You turned 8 months on Dec. 26th. There have been a few 'First' time milestones that you have reached at this age. Most of them were pretty cool and we also had one milestone that you were able to do which ended up to be a scary experience.

First and foremost the scary event with you jumping/climbing out of your crib. You were napping and when Daddy came to check up on you, you were already on the floor. Your crib was not adjusted to the lower level yet and you were able to pull up on the railing, onto your knees and somehow managed to go over it and fell on the floor. He was really shocked and scared for you. I would have been too if I found you like that. I guess he found you on your side with a blanket and it seemed like you were ok. You were not crying so that was a good sign. You gave him a big smile when you saw him and even giggled when he was checking your ribs for a full body exam to see if anything was broken. After examining you, he lowered the crib so that you wouldn't be able to climb out of it. You only had one little bruise on your head. I was so shocked and scared when I heard the news. After that I didn't even want you to sleep for too long just in case something wasn't right. I think that your little guardian angel was watching over you that day. Some how, some way you managed to be ok after climbing out of your crib. We do not know how you did it but we thank God that you are ok. This happened when you turned 8 months! We couldn't beleive it. You are such a little monkey!

As for the other cool milestones here they are:

- You have discovered how to sit up really quickly now.
- You have become a little crawling machine. When you see something you like, you crawl towards it and immediately put it in your mouth. One thing that you love to look for is the dog bowl. We found you checking it out with your mouth so now they are off the floor.
- You are able to feed yourself and hold your bottle with one hand. Very impressive!
- You love to talk. Lots of Dadada which makes your Dad really proud :)
-You do not miss many meals :) You love your food and we are glad!

- You are now chewing your food and it is the cutest thing ever! I am able to put little pieces of food on your high chair plate and you can pick it up with your hands and feed yourself. Pretty soon you will be done with bottled baby food. Yay!
-You have been great at socializing too. We have been out and about for a few days this Christmas season and you did so well. We are very proud of you. (You are pretty much the center of attention :)

- My favorite is that you have been sleeping longer hours during the night and that means a happier Mommy.

I'm sure there's a few other milestones that I have forgotten to add. You are just growing so fast! Sometimes I am hoping that you would slow down. I want to enjoy every little thing that you do at this stage because you're only this little once. You have inspired us to be better people and be good parents.

Micah pants, I love you so much. You are everything and more! I am trully blessed and honored to be your Mom.

Till next month,
Mom

Update

Hello all,

Sorry for the blog delay. We were in the process of cutting off Telus from our lives and we had no internet access for a few days. I have to say that 'Telus Sucks!'. We've had pretty bad service from them for the past few months now and that is why we now welcome Shaw into our lives along with cable tv. Yay! I almost had a nervous breakdown for not being able to access the internet for 3 days but I managed to busy myself with my little warrior.

First off, I would like to give you an update on my little man. We are having so much fun with him at this stage.

He now likes to sit up all the time.

He LOVES to eat! (He has mastered chewing his food and likes to hang on to his spoon too)

He is such a strong kid. He can now pull himself up to check out the toys in his toybox.

Loves to do things with Mom and Dad too. Here are a few pics of my little 'Ricardo' at the Zoo lighs.

If you haven't been out to see the lights yet this year, you should. It was pretty cool!

Anyway, my sister and I will be turning 28 in 2 days...I don't know how I feel about that yet. We love Christmas! I guess when you are born close to that time Christmas becomes extra special. Micah is also turning 8 months 2 days after that so lots of celebration coming up in the next few days.

Take care everyone,
K

Merry Early Christmas

Our trip to Edmonton was a lot of fun! It was great to spend time with my family. I was able to breathe a little easier because I had so much help. It's like I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my son because he was always with Grandma or Auntie Karen or Auntie Gabi. Micah did so well with my family. He got along well with everyone even with the guys. He didn't cry at all when he was passed around. I am so proud of him! Here are a few pics from our trip.

Enjoy!

6 Weird Things About Me

Thanks for the tag Jenn! Okay, now I really have to think....

Number 1: Definitely my F.O.B.ulousness! (I guess you have to be a Filipino or know one to get this). You see, since English was not my first language I would say things in a weird sounding way or say something but meant something else. For example: "My ears are inflated" (wrong!) I meant to say "My ears are inflamed" (much better )

Number 2: I have triangular toes. The bottom part of my toes are triangular shape. You have to see this one to beleive it.

Number 3: I am always cold when I'm in bed. More like freezing actually. I always argue with Mark about this one because he is the total opposite. Marky you weirdo (ha!ha!)

Number 4: I have never been back home to the Philippines. It's been almost over 15 years! don't you think it's weird that I haven't been back? Yeah, I think so too. Must plan a trip to go there soon!

Number 5: I have bought colored contacts when I was in college when I didn't even need one. Total weirdo Krissy!

Number 6: I can do many different weird postures in yoga....to me that is total weirdness in itself!

Here's my bonus one: Ummm, I 'Number' my numbers????

Phew! that was tough Jenn! but I made it.
Now I am tagging:

Beginner's Blitz

Mark and I have been sick for a few days (Micah for almost a week now) so that explains the no blogging from me for awhile. It has been a take it easy kind of week which meant no work outs at all from me....until now. I was feeling fat so I had to do something. My friend Angele came over and we did the beginner's 'Blitz' which consisted of:

250 skips
25 back extensions
25 push ups
50 full situps
50 leg squats

Of course we timed it and I ended up finishing it in approximately 7 minutes and she in 9 minutes. I thought that was pretty good for me since I was thinking of going to yoga tonight and I tried to do one posture and I couldn't even hold it for a few seconds. So, for a sick Momma, that was pretty good :) I am proud of my friend Angele for doing it and finishing strong. She hasn't skipped rope since she was a kid and she did pretty well. Mind you she was tired in the end and her face was red but she finished strong and didn't give up. Way to go Angele! I know that you will be beating your first record time next time you do that with me :) Hey Evie, I know you can do the real Blitz no problem :) You should come over and do that with me when I am better.

Anyway, Mark and I are feeling much better today. Hopefully I will be good by Thursday. Micah and I are taking the red arrow bus to go to Edmonton to spend our early Christmas celebration with my family. I am very excited! I haven't seen my family in awhile and I miss them so much. We are also taking my parents to supper on Thursday night because it is their anniversary. Very excited to eat Malaysian food too! Tropika here we come! Yum!yum!

If you've never tried Malaysian food before it is amazing! We have a 'Tropika' in Calgary and it is close to 16th Ave. and Center Street. Very very tasty food. You must try to order the beef or chicken sate, roti, chicken curry and the crab. Man, I wish I was eating that for supper tonight.

Ciao for now,
K

Family Day Thursday

Today we spent the day sleeping in, relaxing and hanging out with our little champ. He is recovering quite well from his cold. He still has a cough and sneezes sometimes but the cold is at least gone, I think. He is eating well and we are making sure that he gets lots of fluid, lots of love and lots of rest.

I also did a grueling workout today. Mark calls it "Bad Dog Workout". It consists of:
200 skips
20 push ups
25 sit ups
30 jumping pulls (jump up and pull up on the rings)

3 times in a row and this is for TIME, which means - No rest or minimal rest at all. I manage to do it in less than 20 minutes...which involved cursing Mark by the 3rd set. I headed up to go shower because I was sweating so much and I was still sweating afterwards. It was one tough workout Marky!

Mind you, he did one called 'The Blitz' and I am glad I didn't do that one. This puppy consisted of:
500 skips
50 back extensions
50 push ups
100 situps
100 squats

I was thankful that I didn't do that because I could hear Mark skipping downstairs and it seemed like it was forever.
Mind you, I am thinking of trying it sometime this week. We'll see....

Anyway, all in all it was a great Thursday. Hope you did too :)

Ciao,
K

Micah's First Cold

So my little guy has finally gotten his first cold. I think he got it from our swimming trip to the Talisman Centre. He is coughing and have a very runny nose. This means, not a whole lot of sleep for Mark and I. I totally feel sorry for him. Every time he coughs he's got this awful look on his face...like it's painful and he doesn't understand why it keeps on happening. Also, every time he sneezes (which is like every second) mucus will come flying out from his nose and spit from his mouth. It is such a little cute sneeze but I have to struggle with him to wipe his nose every time he sneezes. I bought him the softest 3 ply tissue I could ever find at Safeway today. We've been giving him Tempra and hope that it will pass pretty soon. Right now, we are just taking it easy and not going out to the malls at all. Good thing I'm done my Christmas Shopping :)

Anyway, I have been going to the Hot Yoga once a week for 3 months now and I love it! I love it because it is soooo so good for your body and a great way for me to escape and forget about everything and focus on myself. I also love it because I get to leave Micah with Mark and they do just fine. Mark would know when to feed him, change him or when to put him to bed. He even gives him a bath without me...very impressive! I am very lucky because I get to go away and spend some time by myself and It is such a great way for the two of them to hang out once a week without Mom.

Mark is such an awesome dad! He knows Micah so well and Micah knows him. I guess this is a plus when you work for yourself. You get to come home whenever you want, work less hours and make twice or three times the mula. I was thinking today, on my way to the hot yoga that if I ever croak and die (which will never happen coz I am going to live till I'm 100 :), that my son will be well taken care of. I am soo thankful that Micah will grow up to know an amazing father. ...and of course a very cool Mom :)

Anyway I do really have to go to bed...I know it's going to be another tough night.

Ciao for now,
K

Family Day

Today was a great day because I got to spend it with my family.

I love my family...we have such a blast together. We decided to go swimming at the Talisman Centre. It was Micah's first time being in a pool full of loud, screaming kids. I guess it was their customer appreciation day and it was free to go check out their facility for the day (good thing it was free...as we were leaving I told Mark 'We might be there for an hour or maybe only 5 minutes...you never know how our little one will do in the water')

I think it went well! Micah did not like it at first...he actually gave us the lower lip a few times.
We hung out away from the kids who were splashing around and he was much better after that.
We even stayed for 1/2 hour in the pool with him! I guess we just need to take him there more often so he gets used to it. Here comes our 'Little Dinos' swimming lessons coming soon!

Our day ended with more hanging out and an awesome chicken fajita dinner! I think it was the best one ever Marky!

Have an awesome week everyone!

Ciao,
K

P.S.
Sorry for the bad pool pictures of me and Mark :(
