3 Month Letter (finally)

Dear Micah,

You are now 3 months and counting my boy. I haven't actually written this blog right when you turned 3 months because Mom have been busy with things lately. You continuosly grow and amaze us. You can now hold your hands together, follow someone's voice (especially mine :), stand up on your legs while Mom holds you up. You are definitely more vocal and getting loud. I finally got the courage to put you in your own room at night and it has been great so far. Right now you like going to bed at 9 p.m. and waking up at 5 a.m. You call us at 5 in the morning to have your feeding and then back to your crib for your morning nap. Around 8 a.m. you wait patiently for someone to come pick you up. I love it when Mom or Dad come to your room and you give us the biggest and sweetest smile to start the day. That is my favorate so far. You can now laugh and squeal as well and we just have a blast getting you to do that over and over again. You love making lots of bubbles and drooling on mom's shoulder too. Dad has recently discovered that he can pick you up with your hands and you can totally hold your neck up. I'm sure I am forgetting so many milestones that you have reached at 3 months but we are so proud of you for being such a happy, spirited and healthy baby. You make us want to do so much to make our world be a better place so that you can experience a long and happy and healthy life. We are so excited for you my boy! For everything that you have already given us.

Love always,

Mom and Dad

3 Months, Workout and More

I'm baaaaack! Sorry for not blogging lately. We have been busy with life. Micah turns 3 months old in a couple of days. Wow! I am still in awe....and sometimes it amazes me that I actually have a 3 month old son. Anyway, he is doing great. Here is a recent picture of Mom and Micah at Stanley Park.

I think I finally have a routine set for him but I know that once I start getting comfortable with it that it will probably change. He has been crying a lot at night for a week or so and that wasn't fun. Maybe it was the heat or growth spurt or over stimulation. I don't know. He is doing much better this week but it's only Monday so we'll just have to wait and see. There's a few milestones that he's able to do at three months. Watch for it in his 3 month love letter from Mom (coming soon!).

We had a great weekend! On Friday we went to Stanley Park with Mark's family. It was a beautiful night...it reminded me of being in Hawaii except less humid of course....Oh Hawaii, I wish we were there right now. Maybe when Micah is a little older. I don't really care where we go as long as there's water. Anyway, here's a few pics:

My parents came Friday night as well. Mark and I took this opportunity to go out on a date Saturday night. We went out for sushi and watched Superman after. It was so good to get out! We did hurry home after the movie though as we already missed our little munchkin :)

On Sunday, Micah and I went over to my friend Michelle's for mini baby shower. She was hosting it for our girlfriend Heather who is due in 4 weeks. By the way Michelle, Happy 3 months old to your little Canyon :) Canyon, I know you and Micah will be the best of friends! Here's a few pics from that day.

Anyway, that was my fun weekend. On the workout scene, I did ok last week. As long as I was able to do my strength training program 3 times a week, I was good. I know I can do better though. Mark and I are aiming to do 5 days a week of strength training but for short periods of time (like 20 to 30 minutes). Mark finally installed the rings downstairs and man is it ever hard to workout in them. Check it out at: http://www.theesh.blogspot.com/

I have also been walking for at least close to an hour every day and I feel great! I am really looking forward to running again but Mark tells me to work on my kegel workouts first! By the way, any ideas on where to get a good Chariot?! one that we can attach to a bike and use for jogging?

(big yawn) me so sleepy....I guess that's all for now folks.

Good Night!

K

Week 1 of 6

Yesterday marks my very first week of working out. Mark and I have decided to do a 6 week postpartum workout for me. I am very excited about it for sure! Our home gym is becoming to be a really cool place to hang out. Mark's gymnastic rings has finally been delivered along with our very very tall heavy bag which we need to stuff. He recently bought a back bench as well and it is pretty awesome! I am pretty much the guinea pig for this 6 week post partum workout book that he is going to write about. He is an awesome writer and I am very excited to be a part of this experiment. Plus, getting back into shape is the best part about it :) Here are some pics of our new equipments.

Yesterday we worked out legs, tris, lower back and bi's. It just about killed me by the time we were done. From sumo squats to squats with weights, squats with a big medicine ball, to lunges, diagonal lunges, reverse lunges and more lunges! I was walking pretty funny up and down the stairs. And then we had to do the rest of the other workouts as well! Phew! we were pretty beat when we were done. I was like, ok....can I go and pass out now? And you know how it is when you wake up the next morning ... I felt like I got beat up with a baseball bat! I was sooo sore!!!

Ooops, I hear the little man....More stories to come later.

ciao for now,
K

11 Week Update

Today was pretty melow. I had to take Micah to the doctors and he did so great. He was smiling and talking away and totally showing off. Yup! that's my boy! Here's a picture of him while we were waiting for the doc to come see us.

Happy and content boy. Of course the doctor caught me taking pictures of him. She just smiled. I'm sure she was thinking how typical of a Mom I am.....but maybe not? Am I just the only weird one that takes picture of her kid at the doctors office??? anyway, you can call me weirdo but I don't care. I am just way too much in love with my boy :) He now weighs 12.13 lbs and is 62 cm's long. Head Circumference is 40.2 cm. The doctors said that his weight and height are at the 75 percentile which is great. I don't know what that means but as long as she said it's great, then great it is.

Not too much new around here. I hope you're all doing well. Drop a line when you have a chance.

Ciao for now,
K

New Toys, Baby Updates, Weddings and More

Well it's been awhile since I last blog. Micah is doing much much better now from getting vaccinated. I'm so glad that the after effects only lasted for a couple of days. Phew! I told Mark he can go to the next one.

Anyway, our little bundle is doing so great. We are so lucky to have a good baby. Good in a way that he has established a routine that we have created (thanks to the 'Secrets of the Baby Whisperer' book). She talks about setting the EASY routine and it totally works! It helps you set a routine for your baby and you as well so you are able to start doing things more for yourself. He Eats, Activity (plays for awhile), Sleeps, You (I now get to do a few more things around the house - slowly but surely). I recommend this book for Mom's to be. It is excellent, I promise! He is also a very good baby that we can pretty much tell what he wants now....well, most of the time. We're pretty close anyway :) He is heatlhy and happy. He has been eating like a little machine! As you can see from his recent pictures. He is so amazing! I still can't beleive that he's mine sometimes.

I have gotten a few toys lately and I should stop! really, I should but when you have the Baby Blues, shopping is the only way to cure it...he!he!he! I bought myself a digital camera and I'm very excited to use it. Now, I will be able to take pictures and video of Micah more often than before. Plus I hate to use Mark's and break it. That wouldn't be good. So, now expect to see more pics on my blog too. yay!

Oh yeah, here is a picture of my imac too. Pretty fancy schmanzy heh! I love it. It is my favorate toy for sure right now. It's amazing how skinny it is too! gotta love apple. They make such amazing products.

Mark, Micah and I went to a wedding this Saturday and we had a blast. Baby came with us during the morning ceremony. He did really well. I had to feed him in between the ceremony and you can totally hear him just eating away. And of course, I had to burp him too and it was one of the loud ones. It was so funny! Good thing we sat at the back. My beautiful friend (Rosanah) married Hal this weekend and I am so happy for them. We then headed to the Regency Palace for the reception and got fed a 12 course meal! It was insane. By the end of the night I was thinking that I should have worn one of my moo moo dresses. There was so much food!!! From crabs, to lobsters, to fish, chicken, desserts and more food - we were still full by the morning the next day! Gotta love Chinese weddings!

I also got to see my great friend Lailina along with her husband Axel, her Dad and Mom. It was great to see them. They have been really good to me and supported me throughout the years. I was glad that they finally got to meet Mark too. Anyway, here are a few pictures from the wedding.

Hope you're all having a great week.
Happy Stampede everyone!

ciao for now,
K

Week 10 Update, 1st Vaccination, Control

Today was Micah's 1st vaccination and let's just say that it's been a long day already. My poor baby cried sooo hard and was so red when they poked him with 4 needles!!! All I kept thinking about was 'make it stop!' please, 'make it stop' but there was nothing I could do. I felt so helpless and so weak at the same time. When I turned him over and saw his face, my heart just broke. There were tears and mucus and sweat all over his little face! I wanted to cry too but I told myself to be strong for him so I didn't. I should have cried! it totally drained me after that!! How can something so painful be good for him in the end??? I guess that's how it goes. Life is pain sometimes. It was so crazy because whenever he would finally settle down and the nurse would talk, he would cry hard again. That happened like 4 times! I guess he associated the nurse's voice as something that is not good at all. I am so proud of my little boy. He still managed a few smiles when we got home. But an hour later, it was all non-stop crying. It was hard to soothe him and every time he woke up he just starts crying hard. So I guess I should be getting to bed early tonight because I know that I'm going to be up a few times for sure.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to what week 10 will bring us. Just when you think you're doing ok, they have to arrange it so the vaccination takes place at that exact time. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm complaining. I should be thankful really. We live in such amazing country to get vaccinations for our kids for free so that they don't get sick. I can only imagine other countries that have to pay for it or don't have it at all. I know we take it for granted sometimes. I'm just very thankful right now even though it makes my son a little crabby for a couple of days.

Control - is one thing I seem to not have lately. I guess I probably lost that after baby came huh....it's just taking me awhile to realize it or hit me in the face. Control over the little things that I have to do: like return calls, book appointments, tidy up the house, write down my goals, work out, even being a mom. I don't know, maybe its just how I am. I was a very organized person and now I can't even organize a single thing! It is very frustrating but I guess maybe it's just a phase that you go through after you give birth. Anyway, blah blah blah...I should get going here. It feels good to blog about it though.

One last thing: be thankful for what you have!

ciao,

K

Happy Canada Day

Hello all,

I just want to wish you all a Happy Canada Day long weekend. Hope you're all having a wonderful mosquito free time! We've tried to go for a walk 3 times this past weekend already and we always seem to regret it after. Maybe we'll just wait until the mosquitos leave the city. I don't remember it being this bad last year. Speaking of last year, here is a picture of us after running the HBC 10k Canada Day run. I didn't make it this year because I'm only 2 months postpartum, but I will next year for sure!

Anyhoo, this will be a short one as I have to concentrate really really hard in doing the most dreaded thing to be doing right now...and that is drinking this crazy concoction mixture that Mark created for me to kill off whatever bacteria that is in my throat (it has been itching lately and I'm trying not to get sick)

It is boiled oregano, lemon, grapefruit, honey in one!!! you should see the face that I make everytime I drink it! This better be good Marky!
