Today: Try to have fun

It is around 6:00 p.m. and I am finally able to sit down. Phew! Here's how my day started.
As I was making squash soup, the phone rang. (ring, ring)
Micah is whining in the background.
-----------------------------
Kris: Hello?
Mark: Hi Babe, how's it going?
Kris: Ok (let's out a big sigh)
Mark: How come just Ok?
Kris: Oh, Micah didn't really nap for too long and he's whining a lot right now. How bout you? how's your day going?
Mark: Well (deep breath)....I just finished training 4 clients in a row and then I have 3 more to do in a little bit. I can't beleive I have f*@#$%%in 7 clients today! [Pardon my french]
Kris: Holy s@$&*t I can't beleive it either!
Mark: Try to have some fun today ok. I will see you guys at 8. Hopefully MP is still up and I get to at least see him for a bit.
Kris: Ok luv, you try to have fun today too ok.
----------------------------

So, that was the start of our day. Micah was still pretty whiny today. I am not sure what's going on.
I think I've done everything that I'm supposed to do. Maybe he is just not feeling too good.
Anyway, when Mark told me to try and have fun today....that was our main goal.
So, Micah and I played and I tickled him till I was laughing so hard and had tears in my eyes.
Then, we went to Safeway and bought a few groceries and I stopped by Starbucks to get a Tall, Soy Caramel Machiato.
When we got home, I gave Micah a bottle and as we were staring at each other....this feeling of joy just came over me. Right then and there, I felt so honored to be my little boy's mother. I whispered "I Love You Baby" and then teared up a little.
Anyway, that was my fun for today.

I hope you all had fun today.
Ciao for now,
K

Monthly Letter

Dear Micah,

I don't even know where to begin your 9 month letter my boy. You have reached so many milestones last month that it is hard to keep track. All I know is that you are constantly learning and exploring each second that you are awake. Seriously, you define the word 'BUSY'. Your dad and I are having such a blast with you. I can't even imagine my life without you.

We have been busy going places and visiting friends. We are also almost done our Sign Language Course and I am definitely looking forward to when you start signing back to us. Our next activity to try after the sign language is swimming. I know that we will have so much fun in that.

You have mastered crawling my love. You go anywhere and you are everywhere!

We are amazed at how fast and coordinated you are. One thing you like to do now is to crawl to Mom or Dad and grab a leg and start whining. I know it is very cute now but we try not to pick you up right away all the time.

You have also recently discovered how to climb up one stair. That is probably my fault because I showed you how to do it and every time you are by the stairs you now try to climb up. All I can say is poor CasCas.

Your best entertainment is still Cassy.

Ever since you started crawling, Cassy is constatly on the move. That is to move away from you of course. You squeal in delight when you go after her and are almost ecstatic when you catch her once in awhile. Thank goodness she is smart enough to move away when she sees you coming. We always say 'gentle' when you try petting her but right now all you can do is grab, pinch and pull all her fur.

You also love bubbles. It is amazing to watch you be in awe with the bubbles. Your Dad and I are so glad to catch all these precious moments with you.

With Mom being picture happy, you now have also mastered smiling to the camera. Every time I say cheese you give the greatest smiles. You are such a poser!

You love being to new places like the gym. You had such a blast there.

Or at the Sip N Safari hanging out with friends.

Or just having play dates with your buddies.

Most importantly, you love hanging out with Mom and Dad.

I don't think I've placed enough pictures in this letter sweetheart :) All I can say is that we love you to the maximum that we can love anybody in this world.

Happy 9 month birthday sweetheart!

Luv,
Mom

To Work or Not to Work - My Decision

I told my work that I have decided to NOT come back when my maternity leave is done this April......and I have just started to feel good about my decision. Last week I was pretty scared about it. I am not the type of person that is not used to having sporatic income coming in. I want to be able to help out with my share of the bills and all that stuff. Mark and I have thought about it and did some calculating and I am better off working 10 hours a week from home with my business than working 40 hours at DS and leaving Micah to a Day Care (that's if I find one). I am excited to watch my son grow and to be there every step of the way. Maybe when he is a little bit older I might be able to find a day home part-time but not right now. Anyway, my decision will bug me now and then (that I know for sure) but I also know that I am blessed to be able to work from home and be with my little warrior.

Speaking of my little warrior, here is one cute pic of him. There will be more to come on his 9 month letter. Stay Tuned!

Busy Bee

Today we met a couple of my girlfriends with their kids at "Sip N Safari". Micah and I had a blast! It is a coffee place where you can bring your kids and they can play and roam around the room. Micah was having a fun time crawling around, exploring and finding all the cool toys and being around other kids. I was so proud of him for being such a fun, well behaved kid. It seemed like a lot of the others kids wanted to check out what we were up to. It was great to have a place to go where you and your kid and your girlfriends can go and have fun all together.

Here are a few pics from our trip:

Micah's new favorite toy is a ball. He was chasing a soft ball around the room and I had a great time watching him.

Micah with friends - Canyon and Maija. As you can see, Micah is already holding Maija's hand. What a flirt!

And here we are with everybody. (Notice how Micah is again holding Maija's hand - better watch out Canyon - you have some competition here :)

Anyway, our week is far from becoming mellow. Tomorrow, my girlfriend Chunlee is coming over to our place to hang out with us. yay! And then Micah and I will be heading to our Baby Sign language class on Saturday morning. And last but not least, Evie and Chris are coming over Saturday night to baby sit the 'Pants' so Mark and I can go out on a date.

Phew! what a busy week...and that doesn't even include the workouts, cleaning up our house and just being a Mom. No wonder Moms deserve to have the title of a "Goddess"! ;)

Ciao for now,

The Weekend...

....was pretty busy for us. Micah and I went to our baby sign language class on Saturday. We learned a few more helpful signs like - 'change', 'wet', 'dirty', 'bed', 'bath', 'pain', 'I Love You' and lots more. I am so looking forward to the day he makes his first sign. My little guy is still sick (cough and cold) but it doesn't stop him from motoring around the house. He has become a busy little bee and with that comes a lot of falling down and hitting his head on the floor, walls, chairs and under the table. I'm sure he has become familiar with the 'pain' sign the other day because he must have fallen and hit his head 5 times. He seems to get cuter by the day. Mark and I are just so into our kid, it's not even funny. Anyway, here are a few pics of my little warrior today.

Here's Micah playing with his 'Predator' truck book. He looks like such a little boy in this picture - I love it.

Gotta love his red hockey hoodie

And of course a big smile for everyone

Evie (Mark's sister) came and hung out with us on Saturday night and we had a great visit with her. She totally adores Micah and Micah loves his Auntie Evie. I also managed to go check out Midpark Christian Assembly church this morning. I am in the process of looking for another church this year. One that is a little bit smaller than the last chuch that I have been going to. Also one that is non-discriminating and will accept you for who you are no matter what. I am doing this because I feel it in my heart. It is time for me to get back into my spiritual realm again. Anyway, I hope to check out a few more churches in the following Sundays. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

So our weekend was pretty busy but it was spent well with family.

Last but not least...a video of MP.

Here is Micah crawling after Cassy's water bowl

Enjoy!

It's ALL good!

Well folks our bootcamp was successful! He only cried for an hour each night and now he is sleeping from 9 - 7:30 or 8 in the morning. WOW! now, why didn't we do this sooner? I guess we weren't ready for it like we are now. My head is definitely much clearer and I have been feeling great in the last few days. It is amazing what sleep will do to a person.

Anyway, not much going on today....it's just been crazy cold outside that we didn't get to do much. We did manage to go out and apply for Micah's Social Insurance Number though. So now he can get a job and support Mom and Dad :) he!he! That will probably be in a few years.....but now we can go ahead and get an RESP account set up for him. Yay!

Anyhoo, here is a video of Micah hangin out with Mom, Dad and CasCas. We decided to play a funky tune ( by Gnarles Barkley - "Crazy") and it just wanna make you feel like dancin.

Enjoy!

Bootcamp: Night #3

This is our third night of baby bootcamp --- meaning, just letting Micah cry it out at night. The first night, he cried for an hour. Yesterday, he did the same thing but woke up with a cold this morning. So that kind of sucks! I'm torn to what I should do tonight. Do I just leave him to cry it out or go and and check him out to see if he's ok??? Aaahhh! I was tense for the whole hour that he cried last night. Mark of course was snoring away but I don't blame him. I am hoping that he only cries for a little bit tonight. Anyway, cross your fingers and hope it goes well. They say, 3 nights right? So, we can't give up now...we are more than half way!

Some pix of my little bundle.

Reading before bed has become one of Micah's favorite thing to do....well maybe it comes second. Bath time is his #1 fave!

This is Micah before our sign language class. Yes, we have registered to the baby sign language class and we are very excited! We now know a few signs and hopefully, Micah will be signing in no time.

Now that he is crawling, he has discored our magnets...and of course, he loves them!

And last but not least, the toy that will help him walk one day. Thanks Auntie Karen!

Welcome to 2007!

Hi all,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. As for our family, we had a great one. Our little man was the highlight of it all and he deserved it. Mark and I are already looking forward to our next Christmas next year. We are planning on taking a 4 week vacation. First week will be spent in Thailand and the rest of the 3 weeks will be spent on the the beach resort in the Philippines. Yahoo! I am so so excited already! My Mom, brother and his girlfriend went there last year and they were talking about the fresh seafood that you eat (like 'jumbo shrimp' as big as lobsters) really, Forest Gump knew what he was talking about :) Anyway, Micah Pants will be almost 2 by then so might as well do this trip now while his fare is still free.

Also, I was thinking about my New Year resolutions while I write this blog and all I want now is to make the world a better place for my son to live in, have good health, spend lots of time with my family and be happy with myself (meaning - physically, mentally, spiritually). As I look back at the goals that I have written last year, I am also proud of myself for accomplishing a lot. Looking back now, I am amazed at the many fulfilling experiences I've had. Sometimes it was hard (like when I was working full time AND going to night school while I was 8 months pregnant) and sometimes it was very painful, but very fulfilling (like giving birth to my wonderful precious son). I could never have survived all of this without the love and support of my awesome partner in crime, Marky. You make me a better person and I am so blessed and thankful for what we have.

As for my little warrior...he is growing insanely fast. I know I probably sound like a broken record already but they do grow so quickly! He finally figured out how to crawl today (the good crawl on all fours) and he is getting faster by every crawl. He has also figured how to splash in his tub. (very very cute!) He would splash his face and giggle like crazy and do it over and over again. He is also getting way too attached to Mom. He would cry every time I leave the room. Hopefully this is just a phase. Of course, Dad is always to the rescue (thanks Marky).

Last but not least, I would like to give my love to my other dog Sammy. He will be leaving for Nova Scotia in about 8 days and I will miss him dearly. He has been my baby prior to Micah and now we have to do the hardest thing and that is to give him up. At least he will be with someone that loves him as much as I did. I'm sure he will love it in Cape Breton.
We will miss you Sam! Cassy will miss you lots too!

And here are a few more pics. Enjoy! K
