6 Month Letter

My dear sweet boy,

You turned 6 months yesterday! I have to tell you that I am the most thankful Mom in the world right now. I thank God for you everyday! You have made our lives so meaningful in so many ways. I can't even imagine life without you now. You were meant to happen and your Dad and I are so in love with you.

There have been so many milestones that you have been doing lately that it is hard to keep track. The one milestone I am excited to write about is your one pearly white tooth! It has finally busted out and it is the most cutest thing I have ever seen. I can't get a picture of it right now because it hurts when I touch it. But soon I will be able to see you smile with your one little tooth and trust me, Mommy will be ready with the camera :)

You have also been very vocal. You definitely know how to complain now and let us know when you are not having fun anymore. You still love your jolly jumper, which I am thankful for. It is such a life saver for when Mom and Dad need to cook supper. Also, you are smiling a lot more now even to strangers. I always get the 'you have such a cute baby' comment. My favorate thing from you lately is your giggles and your laugh. I always find ways to get them out of you. Also, we are on our way to feeding you solid foods. I bought some carrots and peas and sweet potatos and squash for your first set of veggies. I am very excited to feed them to you. What can I say my boy, you are just so amazing! I know there are so many more milestones that I am forgetting that I can't remember to mention right now. Maybe Daddy will in his blog :) One thing I would like to mention in this letter is how thankful I am that you have such an amazing Dad. He loves you to pieces! and you can tell that because you recognize and know him so well! He is fortunate that he gets to spend lots of time with you. He is the most involved parent I know and I am so thankful. He even lets me go to yoga and takes care of you every Wednesday nights. Mommy is really spoiled :) You are one lucky kid!

Just know that we love you and are having such a blast taking care of you. Until next month!
Love always,
Mommy

P.S.
Here are a few pics of the babies from our Baby and You class. They ae just so adorable!

Micah Milestone, Gum surgery and the weekend

Well, I have to start my blog with the most expensive dental expense I have ever had to pay (700$). This one was a gum surgery that involved cutting out part of my gums and pushing the bottom part up (to show more of the teeth) then sewing the bottom gums to what is left of the top...yup! it sounds and feels painful too. It will take about a week to heal before they take the stitches out. It has been a pretty tough 3 days so far and I cannot wait for my mouth to heal. I was thinking of taking pictures to show all of you but I decided not to. (you can thank me, I know :) The worst part of it is that they have to do this in preparation for a crown. I can only imagine how much that is going to cost me. Ouch!

Our weekend was pretty mellow...which is how we like it. I had to kick out Mark and Micah on Saturday so I could clean up our house. Mark decided to take Micah out for a 10k run and they had a blast. It was either do that or take Micah to Rona (he chose running instead which is probably the best choice). On Sunday we went to Fish Creek park to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Someday we will be living in one of those houses by the park. It is just such a beautiful place to live. Here are some nice pics.

Micah Milestones

Micah started eating bananas today. I mixed in a piece of banana in his rice cereal this morning and he seems to like it. I guess I just have to wait and see if he gets any reaction from it. Oh the fun things of feeding solids to your kid. Here is a little video of him enjoying his breakfast.

And last but not least...here is a video of our little champ rolling away. He has finally figured out how to roll onto his back and it is an amazing milestone for all of us :) enjoy!

ciao for now,
K

Hot Yoga, Baby Food and More

Hello friends and family,
Sorry to be doing the once a week blog lately. Things have been crazy at home. As you all know by now, Micah is still feeling the pain from teething. It seems like when he is in pain, he wants more of your attention. That leads to me not doing anything at all except to care for my little warrior. Even though he is at this stage, I am definitely having such a blast spending time with him (when he is not grumpy of course :) He's overall a very very good baby. He is getting soooo cute too! (ok, I'll stop bragging now)

I recently started him on baby cereal last week and it was quite the first time experience. I put a spoonful of cereal in his mouth and back out it goes. I must have done that several times and then he started to like it afterwards. Now, he is beginning to be the expert at eating it. He's got this look of anticipation when he sees the spoon come closer to his mouth. (Must get a video of this and show it to you all next time) First, I started feeding him in the mornings around 10ish and waited for a week to see if there were any reactions or any weird behaviours. After he seemed to be ok I then started switching it to evenings around 5ish just to see if it works better with his sleep. Cross your fingers. It is always better to sleep with a belly full of food.

I also started going to hot yoga again. My girlfriend Chunlee and I have decided to go every week on Wednesday nights. If any of you want to join us just let me know. We go to the 8 p.m. class and we have such a blast! and it is such an awesome workout! I was so happy to be doing this again. It is totally something I can do for myself without thinking about anything else. This is not just normal yoga, it is hot, fun and challenging. Not only does it help you lose weight but it tones your muscles and helps you to detoxify as well. Anyway, I love it! Chunlee, I can't wait to go again this Wednesday :)

On to other things that's been going on, Mark has finally finished our gym. Please check out 'TheEsh' on the right side of my blog for more info.

Anyhoo, it's time for me to work on Mark's new flash website. yay!

ciao for now,

Update

Man! does it ever feel good to finally sit down. It feels like I haven't sat down in 5 days! This is because Micah has finally hit the teething stage and he has been needing a LOT of attention. Pretty much 100% of your attention when he is awake and that is like 10 to 1 ratio (1 being the total amount of sleep he's been having because his gums would hurt him and it would wake him from his sleep during the day and also at night) which means lots of work for Mommy and Daddy. I can honestly say that this has been really frustrating for me...maybe for Mark too (I don't know) but definitely for me. Today was the icing on the cake. I didn't get much sleep last night and all I wanted to do was sleep a little more this morning and it didn't happen. Micah was up and he wasn't going to let us sleep some more. This has set my mood and next thing you know I was grumpy and I started to cry. I felt like I just had enough (this is from the accumulation of previous days with sleep deprivation) . When Micah, Cassy and I went to the park to walk this morning I just cried my heart out! and it felt good to do it! I had to stop though because I didn't realize that there was a guy walking behind me...oops! oh well! it made me feel good and that's all that matters. That will teach me not to do that in public :)

Anyway, my poor little champ is definitely teething!

he's got red cheeks, keeps on chewing on his hands or anything that goes in his mouth. He has been whining a lot and grunting and screaming! It is sooooo draining but what can you do? I feel so sorry for him. He would nap only for 1/2 hour during the day now as he wakes up from the pain. I have been trying baby orajel, tempra, teething rings and just rubbing his gums and it helps for a little while but thats about it. I guess this too shall pass huh. Anybody have some good advice on teething? I so need that right now.

On to other things....Micah and I started our 'Baby and You' course. This is a class that the CHR puts together where other moms and babies get to meet. There were some babies that were 10 weeks old! The oldest I think is 5 1/2 months....What an awesome time we had! I am definitely excited to get to know the other moms. It is great to know that we do go through the same things with raising a child. I am looking forward to making new friends....and so is Micah!

On to fitness...I think I am doing well. I am now running 7 laps around the circular park close to our place. I still remember when I was only able to run 1 lap. I am now at 132 lbs and my goal is to be at 125 by the time Micah turns 6 months...and to be able to run 10 laps before the first snow fall. Anyway, I feel much stronger and better for sure. Thanks Marky for pushing me so hard :) You are the best!

Some Micah milestones:

He can now sit on his high chair.

He is sitting up really well (with some support of course)

He has moved to step 3 diapers.
Loves to bounce on his jolly jumper.
Can do the airplane on his tummy (all hands and legs off the floor into an airplane position)
He has this cute little laugh and he laughs often now
Has hit the teething stage :(

more to come on the next blog...

ciao for now,
K
